Today (15 th Jan. 2005) Mr. Shantilal Muttha President Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana meet in Chennai with Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Ms. Jayalathilaa & Hon'ble Union Agriculture Minister Mr. Sharad Pawar was also present on this occasion.
BJS proposal to set up Tamil Nadu Educational Rehabilitation Center in Chennai for Orphans & Destitute children affected by the Tsunami was discussed in details. BJS President Mr. Muttha shall be leaving for Port Blair this coming week to inspect and study the impact of the tsunami disaster and how BJS can work in Andaman & Nicobar.
BJS and its other associations all across India have
whole- heartily participated in various relief efforts in
all part of Tamil Nadu affected by Tsunami disaster. BJS &
its other association have contribution to the “Chief Minister
Relief Fund” Details. BJS also strongly feels responsible
to activity participate in the Rehabilitation work. And with
long and first hand experiences in similar kind of Rehabilitation
work BJS shall be in a much better position to handle “Educational
& Rehabilitation Project”. From Disaster to Development…
The President of the Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana, Shri. Shantilalji
Muttha, was in Chennai for 4 days. A meeting with representatives
of all the sects of Jain Community & various organizations
was held at ‘Aaraadhana Bhavan’, Chennai. In the said meeting,
a decision was taken by consensus, for the rehabilitation
of the orphans & the needy children in Chennai, who are affected
by the Tsunami disaster. A large building named ‘Daya Sadan’,
located on the Chennai-Cunnoor Highway, near Dadawadi, is
presently vacant. Shri. Ratanlalji Bora, the Secretary of
this Trust has proactively announced to contribute & use this
building & land for this Educational Rehabilitation Project.
We have approached the Government Authorities for their kind
permission. After the due permission is sought, we will shift
such children at the temporary sheds at the above-mentioned
location and for early resumption of their education. A high
level team of 15 people under the leadership of Shri Shantilal
Muttha has visited all parts of Tamil Nadu to identify such
children, who can be brought to Chennai. Cuddalore, Kodiyar,
Thirumallivaasal Parihaar, Kodiya Pallayam, Shirkaali, Kilaakaraai,
Chinnampattinam, Konaayaampattanam, Kilamuakarai, Tavadikupam,
Kadaaikadu, Kudukappam, Pumpuhaar, Nagapattinam, etc. places
were visited. Thousands of people have found to be dead; houses
& slums of lacks of Fishermen have vanished & thousands of
children have lost their parents. Many residents of these
villages were approached and this proposal of the educational
rehabilitation of these children at Chennai was put forth,
which was very well reciprocated by the villagers. The group
of these representatives from the Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana
along with the National President, Shri. Shantilalji Muttha,
included, Shri. Gautamchandji Surana, Shri. Meghrajji Lunawat,
Shri. Harakchandji Bora, Shri. Shantilalji Choudhary and 15
other volunteers.
On January 5, 2005 meet with the Hon. Collector, Nagapatinam,
Shri. Veer Shanmugamani & the Agriculture Minister of Tamil
Nadu wherein, they both have assured us for the said permission.
Meeting with the Hon. Governor, Shri. Surjeetsingh Barnala & various other Government Officials was held on January
6, 2005 to discuss this issue & the said Educational Rehabilitation
Project will commence within the coming days. Active participation
& support from Shri. Kailasmalji Dugad, Shri. Sugalchandji
Jain, Shri. Parasmalji Surana & Shri. Ratanchandji Bora
from Chennai, has contributed invaluably in this unique project
for Educational Rehabilitation.
The amount of Rs. 30 Crore, by the Jain Community will be
utilized in the following manner :
1) Relief Activities already carried out in various Tsunami
affected areas of Tamil Nadir by BJS & its other Jain
Association.
2) Relocation, Logistics, Housing & Maintenance of
the children to temporary locations for 1 year
3) Construction of Rehabilitation Centre along with all
facilities like Hostel / Canteen / Sports & recreation/hospital,
etc. of 1,00,000 ( 1 lac ) sq. feet area
4) Equipments, Fixture & Furniture, Vehicles, etc.
5) Rehabilitation of the children viz. Lodging, Boarding,
Maintenance, Food, Education, Clothing, Medicine, etc. @ Rs.
1.00 Crore per year for the next 10 years
